Blades boss Warnock picks up manager gong

SHEFFIELD UNITED boss Neil Warnock has been named Coca-Cola Championship manager of the month for September.

Warnock steered his side to five successive victories to lead the table by three points from Reading, who beat the Blades 2-1 last weekend.

He said: “It’s been tainted a little with the defeat against Reading last week but it’s still good to get it. Credit must go to the whole club, and I’m including the fans in that, because we’ve had some fantastic backing in the past few weeks.”

Southend boss Steve Tilson was the League One recipient. The Shrimpers won their five games in September, hitting 15 goals and conceding just six on their way to second place in the table.

Wycombe manager John Gorman was the League Two manager as the Chairboys remain the only unbeaten side outside the Premiership, taking three wins and two draws from their five league games in September to rise to third place.
