Swiss papers herald win over Ireland a team rebirth

SWISS newspapers yesterday piled praise on the national team’s winning display against the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday, hailing the start of a new cycle of success.

“Our greatest result since the Roy Hodgson era,” Blick, the German-language national daily, proclaimed.

“At last, Switzerland counts for something again in Europe,” it said.
