Blues delight as Cech signs new Chelsea deal

CHELSEA goalkeeper Petr Cech has signed a two-year contract extension to stay at Stamford Bridge until 2010.

The Czech Republic star’s current deal was due to expire in the summer of 2008 but Cech has extended that contract by two years.

Reserve goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has also signed until 2009, despite being linked with a move away from the Blues to find first-team football.

Cech broke the Premiership record for number of minutes without conceding last season, as the Blues won the league title and Carling Cup.

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon said: “We are delighted that Petr has committed to Chelsea for another two years until 2010. He had a fantastic season in his first year and established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the world.”
