Cherries slam rumours

FORMER Irish international and current Bournemouth manager Sean O'Driscoll has dismissed speculation that Gordon Strachan is to help out with coaching at the Second Division club.

Cherries slam rumours

He had admitted after Saturday's 1-0 win over Notts County that the former Southampton boss was welcome to come and help out. But the Cherries manager says his comments were blown out of proportion. O'Driscoll, who won three caps for Ireland, said: "I was asked regarding Gordon's decision to leave Southampton. I know he wants to view coaches and methods so he can come back better prepared to do the job he is very good at already."

He added: "When asked whether Gordon would be welcome here of course I'm going to say 'yes' as I would if it were Sven- Goran Eriksson, Alex Ferguson, Steve McClaren etc etc."
