Agent criticises Kerr bashing

BRIAN KERR’S agent has leapt to the defence of his under-pressure client by hitting out at an unbalanced media, fabricated stories, and anti-Kerr newspaper campaigns.

With the Republic of Ireland manager preparing for a make-or-break World Cup qualifier against Cyprus at the weekend amid speculation he will lose his job should the Irish fail to reach the finals in Germany next summer, Fintan Drury issued a strong defence of Kerr’s tenure as national team boss.

Interviewed by Matt Cooper on Today FM’s Last Word programme, Drury criticised the recent media speculation over Kerr’s future as Ireland manager, saying: “Over the last number of weeks, Brian has been the subject of pretty unbalanced media treatment... and I’m not sure why that is.
