Adams give Foxes day off for focus in wake of La Manga

LEICESTER manager Micky Adams has given his players a day off from training “to clear their thoughts” as he prepares for Saturday’s game at Birmingham after events in La Manga.

Adams revealed that he twice halted training on Tuesday as he felt his players were struggling to concentrate after the trip to Spain.

Three players Northern Irish international Keith Gillespie, Paul Dickov and Frank Sinclair - are still in detention in Spain after being charged with sexual aggression towards three German women.

Adams had considered putting his players through their paces all week as they look to halt a run of 15 league and cup games without a win at St Andrews.

But the mood of his squad on Tuesday convinced him that 24 hours away from the club to give the players a chance to regroup and refocus was a better option.

Adams said: "It was always going to be difficult to return to football matters and I had to stop the training session a couple of times yesterday because I could see they were not right.

"There is definitely an undercurrent in the squad and I stopped the work to re-emphasise the responsibilities we still owe the club and the fans about keeping ourselves in the Premiership."
