Soccer: Players are behind Keegan, says Fowler
Former Blues midfielder Eyal Berkovic claimed Keegan had lost the respect of his players when he launched his tirade at the City boss following Saturday’s 4-2 defeat at Portsmouth, for whom the Israeli now plays.
However, Fowler, who is finally starting to hit form 12 months after his £6 million move from Leeds, said the players are backing Keegan to pull the club round as they look to end their 14-match run without a win at Leicester today.
“We have to knuckle down and forget what was said at the weekend,” Fowler told www.mcfc.co.uk.
“If we get a good result at Leicester, hopefully, that will get everyone back on Kevin Keegan’s side because I know the players definitely are.”
Fowler was named City’s player of the month for December for his wholehearted efforts in what has been a difficult time for the club.
The 28-year-old scored in three successive Barclaycard Premiership matches before the Fratton Park trip taking his seasonal tally to six and his overall City total to eight.
