Celtic success to be honoured

CELTIC will be honoured by UEFA for their European Cup success.

UEFA will acknowledge all 21 competition winners by presenting them with an exclusive commemorative plaque, while Celtic’s European Cup-winning manager Jock Stein will also be honoured as will other great managers such as Matt Busby, Brian Clough, Alex Ferguson and Otmar Hitzfeld.

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell will travel to Nyon with Lisbon Lion and current kit manager John Clark for the Champions League draw and ceremony on Friday.

Lawwell said: “This is a magnificent honour for the club and celebrates the tremendous achievement of Celtic as the first British club to lift the most famous trophy in club football.

“It is also very fitting that the achievement of Jock Stein is to be recognised by UEFA.”
