Inspired by Burke, Dublin City hit top gear in the second half and took the lead within 10 minutes of the restart when Crowley stooped low at the near post to head home Graham Dunning’s corner.

The Vikings extended their lead on 70 minutes when sub Gavin Doyle pulled the ball back for Alan O’Connor to sidefoot home. Limerick didn’t lie down and pulled a goal back within a minute when Ross Cosgrave headed home Heffernan’s cross.
