Goalkeeper Robert Douglas and his Celtic colleagues Stephen Pearson and Jackie McNamara had all missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Hearts because of injury.

Rangers midfielder Gavin Rae had suffered a knee injury at Dundee United the day before and is now expected to be out for the rest of the season.

The two other call-offs both strikers with Leicester City, Paul Dickov and Stevie Crawford of Dunfermline were the men to miss out.

Scotland manager Berti Vogts had intended to bring in two reinforcements in the shape of Coventry goalkeeper Scott Shearer and Livingston defender David McNamee. But Shearer was also unable to join the squad because of injury.
