Reynolds refuses to blame ref for defeat

SHED your tears for Waterford United after the heartbreak of yesterday’s 2-1 FAI Cup final defeat by holders Longford Town at Lansdowne Road.

Just four minutes remained and that 24-year gap since their last cup final success looked like ending. Leading by that single Willie Bruton goal on 62 minutes, the Blues were on the backfoot determined to hold on to that slim advantage.

Then it all went wrong for Dublin referee John Feighery. With two balls on the pitch the referee allowed play to continue and as the Waterford defence stood still winger Alan Kirby cracked in the equaliser.
