CLAUDIO RANIERI has revealed how the language barrier at Chelsea is holding up the team’s development.

Three of the manager’s new signings, Claude Makelele, Hernan Crespo and Adrian Mutu do not speak English, so Ranieri has to give team talks in two or three different languages.

It is a throwback to when the Italian first arrived at Stamford Bridge and could not speak English himself.
