REPUBLIC OF IRELAND defender Steve Finnan yesterday admitted to being "daunted" by the hectic Premiership season which begins next month.

Finnan who admitted to being exhausted at the end of last season, has returned to training with Fulham, yet feels concerned about another mammoth season of fixtures, more specificially about the increased danger of sustaining serious injury.

“I reported back for pre-season training on July 12 after being given extra time off after the World Cup, although it didn’t really feel like I’d been away to be honest. It was good to see all the lads again and get back into the swing of things,” Finnan told icons.com. “But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit daunted by the prospect of another 10 or 11 months of continuous football without a break.
