Inzaghi to go under knife to save season

AC MILAN striker Filippo Inzaghi is to undergo exploratory surgery on his left ankle in a bid to save his season, the Serie A club confirmed yesterday.

The 30-year-old Italy international has not played for the league leaders since Milan’s 4-0 defeat to Deportivo La Coruna on April 7. Inzaghi said he hoped to play for Milan before the season ends and go to Portugal for the European championships.

“It’s unfortunate but it’s the only solution,” he said.
