Yesterday in Portmarnock, the most surprising of those signings was explaining how a return to the Premiership has re-vitalised him.

Kevin Kilbane had resigned himself to being a Sunderland player until Christmas, at least, when the call came from Everton. A few hours later and the winger was re-united with Moyes. Everton's highly-rated young manager had been captain of the Preston side that Kilbane made his professional debut with, and had watched over Kilbane's development for two years as player-coach.
