Hughes completes Djorkaeff switch to Blackburn

BLACKBURN manager Mark Hughes has completed the signing of French veteran Youri Djorkaeff.

The 36-year-old became a free agent in the summer when his contract with Bolton expired and has agreed a deal with Rovers until January.

Hughes told the club’s official website www.rovers.co.uk: “He is exactly the sort of player we are looking for to make the difference.”

Djorkaeff, who was close to moving to Fulham last week, came to prominence at Monaco and played for Inter Milan and Kaiserslautern before joining Bolton in February 2002.

“I am missing playing in England and I feel I have a lot to offer to a club playing in the Premier League,” Djorkaeff said.

“I am a naturally fit person and I have been training hard in the south of France to keep fit. I feel I have another two good years left in me.”

Djorkaeff won 82 caps and scored 28 goals for France and was part of the World Cup-winning side of 1998 and the team which became European champions two years later.
