Vieira to seek assurances

PATRICK VIEIRA has revealed he will seek reassurances from Arsenal about their ambition and the future of their new stadium plans before putting his name to a new contract this summer.

However, while he is annoyed at the interventions of chairman Peter Hill-Wood with warnings about the need to control the wage bill, the Frenchman insists he wants to stay at Highbury.

He accepts that an agreement must be reached on a new deal before the start of next season as he has only 12 months left on his existing deal.
