United have done the game a favour

United confirmed yesterday they had paid almost £14million to agents since January 2001 over £500,000 of which went to the Elite Sports group for whom Alex Ferguson's son, Jason, remains a director.

The figure has astounded, as has the revelation that Elite have 13 members of the United first-team squad on their books, fuelling charges of nepotism that will be explored in the BBC3 documentary, Fergie and Son, to be screened tonight.
