Recovered Reyna vows to remain with Sunderland
The US international is wanted by Blackburn and Manchester City but he is determined to stay on Wearside in an attempt to win an instant return to the Barclaycard Premiership.
Black Cats’ boss Mick McCarthy kept a close eye on events in Ohio at the weekend as the 29-year-old made his return to action following nine months out of action with a serious knee injury.
Reyna will be competing in the CONCACAF Gold Cup this month but has stressed his determination to return to Sunderland.
“The club has shown great faith in me and I want to show it back,” said the former Rangers star, who hopes to be involved on Saturday when Bruce Arena’s men open their Gold Cup challenge against El Salvador.
“Sunderland are still a great team to play for. Although last season was difficult, we have a new manager and the confidence will start to return when we start to get results. I am just really pleased to be playing again although everything is still a bit sore. I am sure a good pre-season will see me ready for the kick-off.”
