Bayern want more standing room

LESS than five months after it was officially opened, Munich’s Allianz Arena is to receive a facelift to increase its capacity for Bundesliga matches.

Bayern want more standing room

The stadium currently holds 66,000 spectators, but there is no restriction on standing places in the German game, and stadium tenants Bayern and 1860 Munich have applied for permission to turn more of the seating areas into standing accommodation.

The capacity would then be increased to 70,000, providing further revenue to the two sides.

All of Bayern’s home games in the Bundesliga this season are set to be sell-outs, while 1860 - who are currently in the second division - have sold out several of their home fixtures.
