NEIL LENNON has apologised for the aggressive confrontation with Old Firm referee Stuart Dougal which could earn him a lengthy ban.

The Celtic captain was furious when the official showed him a straight red card for foul and abusive language at the end of their 3-1 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox.

The midfielder responded by barging his chest into Dougal before pushing his assistant Jim Lyon, while other players tried to restrain him.
