Liverpool agree dealfor Agger

LIVERPOOL manager Rafael Benitez’s persistence appears to have paid off after the club agreed a deal in principle to sign Brondby defender Daniel Agger.

The Denmark centre-half was a target for Benitez last summer and the Spaniard finally appears to have got his man, for a fee believed to be about £5.8million.

Agger, 21, will provide much-needed back-up for established pair Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia.
