U-17s end Japanese tour on a winning note

THE Republic of Ireland U17s completed their tour of Japan with a 7-0 victory over Gifu High School.

Ireland were always in control and ran out comfortable winners thanks to goals from Alan Judge, Michael Moloney and Willie-John Kiely, while Owen Garvan and Eddie Nolan scored two goals each.

Nolan’s two strikes mean he has now scored five goals in four matches on the Japanese tour as Ireland beat Nagoya Grampus Eight before losing 1-0 to Korea and losing 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw with Japan.

The games are part of Ireland’s preparations for the UEFA U17 Championship first round qualifiers in September and October when Ireland face Iceland, Germany and Lithuania.
