DAVID JAMES is determined to win back his England jersey after revealing the criticism which followed his poor performance against Denmark was the “kick up the backside” he needed.

The 35-year-old Manchester City keeper plays tonight against the man who is number one in World Cup year - Tottenham’s Paul Robinson.

James has worked his way back into coach Sven-Goran Eriksson’s plans and is aiming to kick on after being recalled to the squad for the friendly against Argentina.
