Tight security for Setanta Cup final

TIGHT security is expected in Dublin this evening as nearly 1,500 Linfield fans descend on the capital for the Setanta Cup Final.

Fans will be directed to a special car park, then escorted to Tolka Park, where Linfield face Shelbourne.

The evening kick-off, after the English FA Cup final, has led to fears that some supporters may arrive in Dublin with a substantial amount of drink taken.

Irish FA president Jim Boyce said: “It’s a day out and when they get drink in, their brains go out. I just hope that a few idiots - and everybody has a few idiots - don’t spoil it.”

Linfield have only sold tickets to season ticket holders and what is described as bona fide fans. Cameron Ramsey, from Linfield, said yesterday approximately 1,200 tickets had been sold by the club.
