Inzaghi gave the Serie A side an early lead before Andriy Shevchenko doubled their advantage just seconds after missing a penalty.

Valerien Ismael reopened the contest for Bayern before half-time, but Inzaghi eased Milan’s jitters soon after the restart and Kaka ensured there would be no way back for Bayern, slamming home Milan’s fourth.
