German triumph in women’s Euro 2005
The world champions surged into a two-goal lead thanks to Anja Mittag and Renate Lingor and skipper Birgit Prinz sealed the win after Dagny Mellgren had pulled a goal back before half-time.
Norway’s goal was only the second the Germans have conceded all tournament and their deserved triumph was a fitting way for outgoing coach Tina Theune-Meyer to end her career at this level.
