Campbell comes through reserve game unscathed

SOL CAMPBELL completed his first match of the season with a full 90 minutes in front of watching Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as the Gunners reserves beat Coventry City 4-0 at Barnet's Underhill stadium last night.

The centre-back has been sidelined since appearing for England in the Euro 2004 quarter-final against Portugal on June 24, but three weeks ago his Achilles injury had cleared up sufficiently to see him return to training and tonight he stepped up for his first proper test.

Campbell partnered Swiss Under-21 international Philippe Senderos at the heart of the Arsenal defence and appeared to come through the game without problems - although he declined to comment afterwards.
