Former All-Black stars say overrated Ireland 'a pack of whingers'

Former All Black Justin Marshall says Irish rugby is turning into a "pack of whingers" that blames everyone else for defeat.

New Zealand signed off from the southern hemisphere leg ‌of the new Nations Championship with a resounding 40-21 win over Ireland on Saturday.

Revelllng in the victory for The Good, The Bad, and The Rugby podcast, Marshall took aim at Ireland and former captain Peter O'Mahony, who was critical of match referee Nic Berry on Virgin Media TV.

"They’ve been blaming a couple of decisions within the game, going 'we were ripped off, the All Blacks cheated, they always get the favourable decisions at Eden Park, there was this and that'," Marshall said.

"They’ve also turned into a pack of whingers, to be honest. They feel like their performance wasn’t up to standard, but it’s everyone else’s fault.

"Mate, we didn’t make you drop the ball f*****g 15 times. Do you know how many tackles they fell off?"

"You know what guys? Sort out your own s**t first."

Murray Mexted was another former New Zealand international to go in heavy on Ireland following the game, suggesting the visitors are overrated, particularly by themselves. 

Speaking on the DSPN podcast, Mexted said. "This is an Irish team that really rate themselves big time in the global game, and I think they overrate themselves a bit actually, to be frank. And that was probably exposed on the weekend.

"Are they as good as they were two or three years ago? I don’t think so. I think they are a team that’s a very, very good rugby team, but where’s the X-factor in that team?"
