Highly-rated Munster forward Michael Foy has put pen-to-paper on a new contract that will see the 20-year-old move into Clayton McMillian’s senior squad for 2027-28.
The Cork Constitution lock/flanker, who is yet to make his senior debut, will complete his third year in the Munster academy next season before taking the next step into the professional squad, the province said on Wednesday.
A two-time Munster Schools Senior Cup finalist with Christian Brothers College in Cork who started playing rugby at Carrigaline RFC, Foy joined the academy in the summer of 2024 and was an ever-present for Ireland in the 2025 Under-20s Six Nations before playing in that season’s World Championship in Italy.
Foy’s new contract will see him, in Munster’s words, “optimise his individual development” in the academy before moving up to the senior squad, when he will be following this season’s graduates, hooker Max Clein, flanker Seán Edogbo, tighthead prop Ronan Foxe and back three player Ben O’Connor.
Munster are set to announce a new intake of academy recruits for next season later this month.
