Clayton McMillan looks likely to retain Tadhg Beirne as Munster’s club captain for his inaugural season as head coach but the former Chiefs boss stressed the importance of leadership throughout his playing squad.

Beirne was Munster’s sole representative on Andy Farrell’s British & Irish Lions squad which defeated Australia 2-1 Down Under this summer, starting all three Tests at blindside flanker.
