It was a night at Thomond Park that had everything from Munster’s point of view. Yet as sweet as the sight of Peter O’Mahony scoring in this crucial URC derby win over Ulster was on his final outing at the stadium, it will mean nothing if the job is not completed in Cork this Friday night with an equally important victory over Benetton.

Whether it is in Dublin, Pretoria, Glasgow or Durban, the possible away play-off quarter-final destinations facing Munster in three weeks, that O’Mahony and fellow veterans Conor Murray and Stephen Archer will take their farewell tours next will be moot as far as interim boss Ian Costello is concerned.
