Connacht's all-time record points scorer Jack Carty has penned a contract extension for the 2025/26 season while winger Mack Hansen has been ruled out for five weeks due to an ankle injury.

The Roscommon native made his debut in 2012 and has gone on to score 1277 points for the province across 220 appearances and looks to increase the record in the coming season.

Carty came through the Connacht pathway system through Buccaneers RFC and Marist College in Athlone. He has made 11 appearances for Ireland and was a member of the 2019 Rugby World Cup squad. 

Carty played underage county football for Roscommon and represented the Republic of Ireland at U15 level and was offered trials at Southampton and West Ham.

Meanwhile, the Connacht management team have issued a squad update ahead of their last home game in the URC gainst Edinburgh on Saturday at the Dexcom Stadium (7.35pm) with Hansen ruled out following an ankle injury.

Colm Reilly will be out of action for eight to  weeks after he dislocated his kneecap during the Lions game in Johannesburg. Also in the Lions game, Shane Jennings dislocated his shoulder and will be out for weeks while Sean Jansen is following return to play protocols are being removed for a HIA during the game.

Shamus Hurley-Langton will be assessed during the week for his wrist injury. Bryon Ralston and Josh Ioane continue their rehab programme as they work towards being available for the pre-season.
