'Our performance wasn’t good enough' - Ian Costello following Munster's defeat to Cardiff

Munster host Ulster at Thomond Park and Benetton Rugby at Musgrave Park in their final two fixtures and know that two wins should be enough to get them into the quarter finals.

Munster coach Ian Costello had a simple message for his players after they slumped to second successive defeat at a passion-pack Cardiff Arms Park – “that wasn’t good enough.” Having let a 14-12 interval advantage and then a 21-12 second half lead slip, Munster were beaten 5-1 in match points against a key rival for a top eight finish. It left Costello admitting that his side must now win their two remaining games to reach the play-offs.

“I was really disappointed, especially at how the second half got away from us. They are a good side and the crowd was a big factor for them, but our performance wasn’t good enough,” said Costello.
