It took more than a century of Test caps for Peter O’Mahony to get the recognition he craved and Murrayfield delivered.

As the veteran Ireland flanker was called ashore in Edinburgh on Sunday, replaced by Jack Conan on 51 minutes with his day’s work complete and his side on the way to a convincing Guinness Six Nations victory over Scotland, O’Mahony was booed by a significant minority of home supporters.
