It’s past three years now since Peter O’Mahony found himself relegated to the replacements bench for the majority of the November window and ended it by describing the month as “probably the most enjoyable” of his career.

It was an eye-opening statement and it came to mind again late on Saturday night when Jack Conan echoed that manner of words after his 30-minute cameo in the Six Nations opener against England at the Aviva Stadium.
