Eimear Considine has announced her retirement from rugby after 10 years at the top level of the women's game in Ireland.
The Clare native played football and camogie for the county before taking up rugby aged 23.
She played for the Irish women's sevens team from 2013 to 2016 and went on to make her XV's debut against Scotland during the 2017 Six Nations.
An ACL injury suffered while playing for Munster in the 2023 interprovincial series kept her out of action for a year but she came back strongly, playing well enough to earn a call up to Scott Bemand's Ireland squad for this year's WXV1 tournament in Canada. In all, she won 25 caps for Ireland.
“At the age of 23, I was given an opportunity to play rugby," Considine said.
"I had no idea back then of the incredible journey that lay ahead. But now, after 10 years, I feel it’s time that the journey ends.
“To all my coaches throughout the years at Bohs, Munster, and Ireland, thank you for backing me. To all my teammates, I have made friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
“To my family, especially Dean, it wouldn’t have been possible without your support and patience!
“To all the supporters, you’ve been there through thick and thin and I look forward to joining you from here on out.”
