Joe Keyes crossed twice as Ireland ran in six tries in a 36-6 demolition of Scotland in Sunday's men's rugby league international in Gateshead.

Captain George King touched down to give Ireland an early advantage before Scotland responded through Matty Fletcher's score.

Ireland were in complete control at the break as a try from Aidan McGowan and Keyes' first effort helped stretch their lead to 20-6.

Scotland held out for the opening 23 minutes of the second period before Keyes broke clear to double his tally.

James Farrar and Harry Rushton made the scoreline more emphatic in the closing stages, while Riley Dean kicked 12 points, landing five of six conversions, in addition to a first-half penalty.
