Crowley and Ahern nominated for Nevin Spence Young Player of the Year award

Bundee Aki, Jamison Gibson-Park and Dan Sheahan are nominated for the Players' Player of the Year 2024. 

AWARDS NOMINATIONS: Jack Crowley and Tom Ahern have been nominated for the Nevin Spence Men's XV Young Player of the Year.

Bundee Aki, Jamison Gibson-Park and Dan Sheahan have been nominated for the BDO Ireland Men's XV's Players' Player of the Year for 2024 as Rugby Players Ireland (RPI) announce their full list of nominees. The awards take place on May 22 at The Clayton Hotel in Ballsbridge.

Sheahan has been nominated for a second year in a row for the Players' Player award. He was ever present during Ireland's SIx Nations winning campaign and finished joint top try scorer with Scotland's Duhan van der Merwe. Sheahan has played a central role for Leinster this season which will see them face Toulouse in the Investec Champions Cup final in London next week.

Gibson-Park brought his game to new heights this season for both Leinster and Ireland. Gibson-Park played a central role to the national side and also his club's in the evolution post-Johnny Sexton era. 

Aki had a sensational year finding the form of his career and will add his RPI nomination to his nominations for Six Nations Player of the Championship and World Rugby Player of the Year. He will hope to claim the award which Caelan Doris won last year.

Aoife Wafer, Brittany Hogan and Aoibheann Reilly are the nominees for the Strata Financial Women's XVs Players' Player of the Year. Wafer, who was nominated for Six Nations Player of the Championship, announced herself to the international stage with a number of powerful performances alongside Hogan who is also up for the award. Reilly returned to the XV setup following her gold medal win on the SVNS Series stage and continued her good form during the championship.

Wafer is also nominated for both Energia Women’s XVs Young Player of the Year Award and AIB Corporate Banking Women’s XVs Try of the Year Award.

Tom Ahern, Joe McCarthy and last year's winner Jack Crowley have all been nominated for the Nevin Spence Men's XV Young Player of the Year. Crowley played an important role in Ireland's Six Nations title stepping up to the plate for Ireland's first championship in the post-Johnny Sexton era.

It has been another successful year for the Irish Sevens programme with Olympic qualification secured and several medals to the to the growing SVNS Series haul. Megan Burns, Beibhinn Parsons and multiple award winner Amee-Leigh Murphy Crowe are nominated for the TritonLake Women's 7s Players' Player of the Year.

Terry Kennedy 7s return sees him on the nomination list alongside Harry McNulty and Zac Ward for the TritonLake Men's 7s Players' Player of the Year.

Keith Earls will be presented with the Zurich Irish Contribution to Society Award for his immense contribution to the community.
