Andy Farrell praised Conor Murray’s mental toughness as he rounded on social media trolls for the abuse directed at his players in the wake of Ireland’s 23-22 defeat to England last Saturday.

The levels of online abuse directed towards Irish players after their Twickenham loss was highlighted by former Munster and Ireland wing Andrew Conway when he used his column on the official Six Nations website to comment: “The level of negativity and disrespect that’s come some of the players' way after a one-point loss at Twickenham is staggering.”
