Warren Gatland felt the 24-point gap between Ireland and Wales didn’t do justice to the visitors’ efforts at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday evening. Andy Farrell was full of praise for the visitors’ efforts but clearly had a different tale on the 31-7 scoreline.
Ireland went into the Six Nations meeting as unbackable favourites after their opening wins against France and Italy, and Welsh losses to Scotland and England, and the hosts duly got the job done despite a performance that fell some way short of their best.
