A call-up to train with Andy Farrell’s Six Nations squad in Portugal late last month saw the 6ft 4ins front-rower return to Munster with a slight knock which ruled him out of the Pairc Ui Chaoimh friendly with his old New Zealand outfit, the Crusaders.

After a stop-start beginning to his Munster career since joining the province last November, Oli Jager is finally in a position to look forward to some meaningful action when the URC champions go to Scarlets tomorrow night.

The tighthead prop, 28, who signed from Super Rugby champions Crusaders to pursue his dream of Test rugby with Ireland, has not played since January 20 when he made his third start in his fifth appearance for Munster against Northampton Saints.
