Peter O’Mahony and Tom Ahern’s injuries in Munster’s home defeat to Northampton Saints may have an impact on Ireland’s preparations for the Six Nations opener in Marseille on Friday week.
Head coach Andy Farrell was at Thomond Park on Saturday night as newly-appointed Ireland captain O’Mahony was withdrawn from the fray 65 minutes into Saints’ 26-23 Champions Cup pool victory. O’Mahony had scored a try in first-half injury time but a heavy collision ended his evening, 25 minutes after lock Tom Ahern left the field on the back of a stretcher cart.
