There may be blues skies ahead with the possible return of Joey Carbery for Munster’s final two Champions Cup pool games later this month but Graham Rowntree was forced to focus on the loss of two important forwards following yesterday’s URC derby defeat at The Sportsground.

The 22-9 defeat to Connacht leaves Munster winless since December 1 with the injury toll rising in every one of the four games since and it was the manner of the injuries to recently-arrived tighthead prop Oli Jager and veteran back-rower Jack O’Donoghue which for the head coach compounded their losses.
