Three days changed everything. This year’s Champions Cup came clouded with questions over the presence of eight of the Premiership’s ten teams availing in the tournament and it ended with talk of an English resurgence.

Seven of their eight claimed wins on the opening weekend. Three of them – Harlequins against Racing 92, Exeter in Toulon and Northampton Saints up in Glasgow – were claimed on the road.
