The move made by Dupont, and former Wallaby captain Michael Hooper, has inevitably caused some curiosity in other countries.

You have to feel a bit for Ireland’s sevens players. People see them performing in far-off exotic places – Hong Kong, Dubai, Sydney – and imagine a life of glamour when it’s really a rigorous round of airports, hotels, buses and stadiums.

It’s not breaking rocks in the midday sun for a living but it is a bloody tough gig and it's poorly paid.
