ASM Clermont Auvergne have 'concretely' positioned themselves to recruit Leinster prop Michael Ala'alatoa, according to L'Equipe. Reports say the french outfit have been chasing the solid right pillar for a while but now have finally struck a deal with the player.

The contract for Ala'alatoa is reported to be 2 years starting next summer. The 32 year old captained Samoa during this year's World Cup in France where his side missed out on the knockout stages despite beating Chile and narrowly losing out to semi-finalists England by a point.

The prop of Australian origin joined Leinster in 2021, with whom he played the last two Champions Cup finals against La Rochelle, losing both.
