‘Heroes Get Remembered But Legends Never Die’: Musician’s tribute to Anthony Foley

Rugby fans around the country are still coming to terms with the untimely death of Munster and Ireland legend Anthony Foley.

The Munster head coach died unexpectedly in Paris last weekend and his family and friends are saying their farewells at his funeral in Killaloe today.

Rugby fan and amateur musician Cathal Reynolds wrote ‘Heroes Get Remembered But Legends Never Die’ in Foley’s honour.

“I felt like writing this song because, obviously, everybody around Munster and Ireland is very upset by the passing of a legend,” he explained.

“Hopefully it can help everybody get past a difficult situation. Heroes get remembered but legends never die.”

‘Heroes get remembered but legends never die’ by Cathal Reynolds.

Sacrifices made, we do whatever it takes

Brave men have fallen, but never forgotten

The red flag flies high, ascending to the sky

In times of sorrow, we stick together and look to a brighter tomorrow

Because, we will stand up and fight again

We will stand up and fight again.

The legend of Thomond Park, memories we’ll never leave in the dark

If we’re behind and losin, he’d say, pull up your socks and keep on movin

A true servant of the land, today, united we stand

One man to lead the way, followed by his big red army

And we say, we will stand up and fight again.

We will stand up and fight again.
