Munster have announced the signing of South African lock Jean Kleyn on a three-year contract.

The 22-year-old is expected to link up with the province next month, subject to being granted a valid work permit.

Kleyn, who has made a total of 18 appearances for the South African side Stormers, will be eligible to play for Ireland at the end of his three-year contract.

"Jean is a hugely exciting prospect and a great addition to the province,” Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus said. “I've seen his development first hand and with Jacques' extensive knowledge of him we are all up to speed on how Jean can contribute to the squad.

“A naturally athletic player we believe he will add further value to the pack and we look forward to welcoming him to Munster."

Kleyn is 6' 8" and weighs in at 118kg.
