38-year-old Stringer named Sale Sharks’ Player of the Season

Form is temporary; class is permanent.

Looks like the footballing mantra also holds true in rugby, where former Munster star Peter Stringer has just been recognised by the supporters of his current club, Sale Sharks.

The 38-year-old has been voted the supporters’ Player of the Season.

Stringer became Munster's most-capped player in 2011, playing 230 games for the province in total. He was also part of two Heineken Cups wins, in 2006 and 2008.

The scrum-half also made 98 appearances for Ireland.

Since leaving Ireland he has played for Saracens, Bath, Newcastle and now the Sale Sharks.

The Aviva Premiership side are currently fifth in the table and clearly the supporters believe Stringer’s performances were a big factor in their season.

Unsurprisingly, the news has attracted the notice of Munster fans.
